Today, it is anticipated that the unveiling of the iPhone 15, Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and potentially the iPhone 15 Ultra will take place.
Today is Apple’s Wonderlust event, and we expect the rumored iPhone 15 and new Apple watches to be revealed. You can watch a live stream of Apple’s Wonderlust event starting at 10:00 am. PDT/13. EDT. This is the first event since Apple announced the Vision Pro at WWDC this summer. The annual iPhone event in the fall has become a cultural touch that heralds the end of summer, only with pumpkin spice. Seemingly endless rumors about the iPhone 15 have been circulating online for months. Some show a fairly simple round of annual updates, while others show the possibility that the new brand will be a larger Pro model called the iPhone 15 Ultra.
As anticipation builds, here’s everything you can expect from Apple’s fall event today.
Apple is about to release four new iPhones, two new watches, and possibly more. The launch of the iPhone 15 is Apple’s biggest event of the year, and it could bring more controversy this year due to the widely reported higher price and a new charging port on the bottom of the phone. Along with these updates, Apple is said to be planning new charging technology, faster chips, better battery life and design improvements for the more expensive Pro versions of the phone. In total, the iPhone 15 should come in four versions: the basic model, iPhone 15 Plus, Pro and Pro Max. In addition to these new products, Apple is widely expected to update both the regular and Ultra versions of the Apple Watch.
They are expected to receive minor updates with the possible introduction of new chip technology. The event may also include AirPods. They are also expected to receive an update to replace the Lightning charging port on the bottom with USB-C, beginning the process of removing the charging technology that has been used in Apple’s most popular products for more than a decade. The event will be broadcast live from Apple’s headquarters in California starting at 10:00 a.m. Pacific local time, 1:00 p.m. eastern or 6:00 p.m. in Great Britain. Here you can follow all the latest news.
The predicted iPhone 15 and 15 Plus
It is anticipated that the new iPhone lineup will consist of four models, namely the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max, similar to the iPhone 14 series. According to Mark Gurman, a reputable source for Apple leaks at Bloomberg, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will essentially be a rebranded version of the iPhone 14 Pro, lacking the telephoto camera and stainless steel body. These devices will feature a 48-megapixel main camera and the A16 chip from the 14 Pros. The Dynamic Island cutout, which was introduced in the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, will replace the display notches on the two phones.
Despite the addition of the Dynamic Island, there will be no other changes to the screen. Display analyst Ross Young stated in a September 2022 post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he does not anticipate the base iPhone 15 models to have a high refresh rate like Apple’s Pro iPhones. Additionally, according to a May report by ChargerLab, a website specializing in battery and charging with a reliable track record for rumors, all four iPhone 15 models will support 15-watt wireless charging using the Qi2 open standard announced earlier this year. If this is accurate, it could imply that the iPhone 15 would enable a plethora of wireless charging devices that do not necessarily require licensed Apple MagSafe accessories.
The expected iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max
Among the anticipated announcements from Apple, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are expected to undergo significant changes. According to Gurman of Bloomberg, the Pro model’s frame will be made of titanium, replacing the previous stainless steel material. This shift in materials is expected to reduce the overall weight of each phone, which is already substantial even without a case.
The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are also expected to feature a new chip called A17, which boasts a supertiny, 3-nanometer processor, marking Apple’s smallest silicon to date. Additionally, the two phones are likely to have thinner display bezels.
The most significant change for the Pro models will be the introduction of a USB-C port, which, in contrast to the regular 15 and 15 Plus models, could support faster data speeds for transferring files and ProRes video files.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max may also feature a new 6x optical telephoto camera. Ming-Chi Kuo, a respected Apple analyst with TF International Securities, predicts that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a horizontally mounted periscope lens and camera unit inside the phone’s body, similar to those found in the Pixel 7 Pro, Galaxy S23 Ultra, and Sony Xperia 1 V. Doubling the native optical zoom from 3x to 6x is expected to enable users to capture zoomed-in photos with better detail, resolution, and dynamic range compared to the 6x digital zoom on the current iPhone 14 Pro.
